My first year of Teacher Education has had many pros but there has only been one massive con to this year. That con being the corona virus, which in reality does not affect my experience all that much. There have been so many pros to being in Education, such this year made me realize how close I really am to becoming a secondary teacher. It is extremely scaring but extremely exciting at the same time. I love being in school and teaching others, which is why I want to become a teacher. So far in my journey of becoming a teacher, the biggest highlight is meeting so many great people, whether they are fellow students or those teaching me. The reason that this is my highlight is because these individuals will soon be colleagues, or potentially even co-workers. Some of these individuals even became good friends of mine.
The idea of becoming a teacher has completely changed in my mind. But not for the worse, rather it is for the better. I cannot wait to become a teacher and start teaching English and French. My respect for teachers has changed as well, I respect them even more now that I know what goes into teaching. Teachers have many others things going on that students do not even know about. Such as when the STF was trying to get future teachers a better future. As a student in high school, I would not be able to comprehend why this is important, but now that I have almost completed my first year of university, I almost truly understand why the changes are important.
My final thought is the knowledge I’ve learned from being in my first year of Education and university, I think that being in Education has made me mature even faster than before. As I always make sure that I’m acting as a role model in my day to day life. Whereas before I joined the college of Education, I would not care how others viewed me. I would go to many parties, not caring what I posted to social media such as Snapchat. But now, I rarely go to parties, and when I do go, I’m most likely to stay sober. Also, I constantly make sure that what I’m posting on social media is somewhat appropriate. I enjoy to hang out with friends, but the way I act has somewhat changed for the better.
Joining the college of Education has become the best decision of my life thus far.
