Something that I think is important to differentiate in teaching in secondary schools in how students want to be treated. Since I graduated two years ago, I still remember how I enjoyed being treated. Being treated as an Adult was very nice, it showed that teachers and I had a mutual respect for each other. But the problem with this is that high school students are not adults or at least not developed enough to be considered an adult. From my experiences, teachers treated me as an adult because I was much more mature than others from my graduating class. But I saw how much my teachers would change how they spoke to other students because they were not able to be considered adults. Those teachers would help them more. Which was in my opinion was good because when I spoke to my graduating class, some of them were not ready to be an adult. This is why I admire some of my high school teachers, because they knew how they needed to change given certain circumstances.
Secondly, I believe something important for teachers to differentiate is the difference of learning in classes. For example, in my French class some of us were exceptional in that class. So, the teacher would help those who needed more help. My teacher also gave 11 of maybe 30 students the chance to write an AP French exam. Since not everyone could do so, she gave those who were exceptional the chance to write the exam. Which was not an easy decision but when you are teaching it is important to make decisions as such. Which I believe is one of the most important aspects of teaching.
