A Reflection Letter to my Grade 8 Self

What’s up you nerd. If I were to tell you, my younger self anything about high school, the biggest thing is that you need is to respect everyone no matter if you like them or not. The reason that this is important is because you will never know who will be your future employer or co-worker. I burnt a few bridges in grade 9 because I simply did not like them at all. But in grade 10 I learned that respect will take you much further in life than anything else can. If I were to redo grade 9, I would have not burnt those bridges as I do not know if those people will be my future employer; or if my future daughter/son will date their daughter/son. The whole high school experience in general was extremely enjoyable. I made friends with those whom I never thought I would like, and close friends from grade 8 became simple acquaintances. But life is too short to worry about that. Be different from everyone else, there is no need to be like the masses. I don’t regret being trying to be different in grade 12. I enjoyed music that many people trashed on and more clothing brands that not many people would wear. Such as Witt Lowry and Young and Reckless, which in turn became my favorite rapper and clothing brand. Life is too short to care about what others think about you and who cares what you enjoy. Make life the best that it can be, if you have any doubts in life, talk to Mom about it. Mom is the number one supporter and number one person in life. Never put any friends above your family, especially Mom. I’ve been in so many arguments with her that I realized, if I didn’t act like a jerk and just listened to her, those arguments could have been avoided. As an adult, yes, we argue still to this day but not nearly as often as in grade 11 and 12. The only true regret I have in life is knowing that Mom could remember these arguments and she could still be hurt after how I treated her in grade 11 and 12. I am not proud of what I did in those years. You’ll learn when you’re 18 that she is the person that means the most to you. You NEED to listen to her and avoid arguments. Yes, there will be heartbreak in your future but remember Mom will love you regardless, she will always be there for you when you have a broken heart and will forever be the number one in your life. Forever and always.

Sincerely,

Your future self
